The SMART^® MTD is the most widely used tracking device in the world designed specifically for tracking criminal offenders. The MTD is a rugged, two-piece tracking system design offering four levels of GPS tracking and monitoring supervision levels: Active, Alert, Passive, and RF, and is supported by our industry leading web-based user interface platform. Because it is a two-piece tracking system, it offers superior security against spoofing and more convenience because the offender must wear only a 2.5 ounce ankle bracelet that is discretely secured to an ankle.

The MTD is a "SMART^®" unit, meaning all rules (e.g., exclusion and inclusion zones, schedules, etc.) are stored in the device allowing autonomous tracking and monitoring capability without dependence on availability of a signal from the wireless provider. The device determines immediately if an offender is in violation of a geographic or other rule, and immediately alerts the offender of the violation. This immediate notification serves to modify the offender's behavior and provides an alert that corrective action is required.
